SFS High School, Koppal, through its journey…

SFS High School is one of the leading schools in Koppal District. It was established in 1996 with the vision of 'Wisdom of Knowledge, Love for Humanity, and Service to Society.' The school is operated by the Missionaries of St. Francis De Sales (MSFS) of the South West India Province.
In 1994, at the invitation of the Bishop of Bellary, the Missionaries of St. Francis De Sales (MSFS ) opened their branch in Koppal. At that time, Koppal, a backward area of North Karnataka, lacked sufficient educational facilities, forcing students to seek distant cities for quality education. Recognizing this need, the then provincial administration, led by Rev. Fr. Thomas Cherukatt,MSFS decided to establish an educational institution in Koppal.

Despite the challenging climatic conditions and limited amenities, MSFS Congregation started SFS School in 1996 inKoppal with a handful of students. It was a timely blessing for the student community ofKoppal. Rev. Fr. Sebastian Conrad,MSFS, the founding Principal, who also was the Correspondent from 1996 to 2001, laid a solid foundation for the school's journey through his tireless efforts.
Initially, the school operated from the MSFS house at BT Patil Nagar, Koppal. From 2001 to 2003, Rev. Dr. Santhosh Kumar, MSFS served as the Principal in collaboration with Rev. Fr. JoshyThazhathukunnel ,MSFS the Correspondent (2001-2004). Fr. Santhosh Kumar’s visionary leadership and dedication to education transformed the school to a beacon of academic fraternity. In 2002, through the grace of God and the tireless efforts of the MSFS fathers, the school started functioningin its own building, on Hospet Road, 2 km from Koppal town. The school excelled in both curricular and co-curricular activities during this period.
Subsequent years marked steady progress, establishing SFS School's reputation in the region. Rev. Fr. Thomas P, MSFS took charge as thePrincipal in 2003 and continued the school's developmental activities. Rev. Fr. Joseph Pulpara, MSFS, served as the Correspondent from 2004 to 2005. As per the demandsof society, a school with central syllabus , SFS ICSE School, startedin 2005. Initially, both the schools operated in the same premises, later ICSE school shifted to its building in 2010. Rev. Fr. Roji Kuttivayalil, MSFS was appointed as the Principal for the year 2005-2006, with Rev. Fr. James Thomas, MSFS as the Correspondent .
From 2006 onwards, the leadership of SFS High School continued to flourish under various principals and correspondents. Rev. Fr. Reji Narikkunnel, MSFS served as the Principal from 2006 to 2014, with Rev. Fr. Joseph Pulpara, MSFS as the Correspondent from 2006 to 2008, and Rev. Fr. Jose Kunnanaikal MSFS as the Vice-Principal from 2006 to 2007. In 2007-2008, the school achieved a milestone by producing its first graduating batch, achieving excellent results.
Successive correspondents included Rev. Fr. John Melukkunnel, MSFS (2008-2010), Rev. Fr. Regi Narikkunnel, MSFS (2010-2011), and Late Rev. Fr. AlosiusKuzhuppillil, MSFS (2011-2013), with Rev. Fr. Joseph Thoppil, MSFS (2007-2009) and Rev. Fr. Lawrence ,MSFS (2012-2013) serving as the Vice-Principals during their respective terms. Under the guidance of Rev. Fr. Regi Narikkunel, MSFS, seven consecutive batches had elevated the school to new heights by bringing one hundred percent results in SSLC examinations with a good number of distinctions.School not only excelled in academics, but also nurtured well-rounded individuals, who contribute much to the society today.
In 2014, Rev. Fr. Jais Mecheril, MSFS took over as thePrincipal (2014-2018), supported by Rev. Fr. Erudayaraj, MSFS as the Administrator (2014-2015) and Rev. Fr. Tomy MSFS as the Correspondent (2013-2016). Rev. Fr. Magish, MSFS, served as the Principal from 2018 to 2023, with Rev. Fr. Jojo Kolarickal,MSFS as the Administrator (2015 -2020), succeeded by Rev. Fr. Anish Chirackalpuraidathil ,MSFS until 2023. Rev. Fr. Sebastian Conrad, MSFS served as Correspondent from 2016 to 2020, followed by Rev. Fr. Salvador Fernandes, MSFS until 2023.
