In the 1960s, a group of Christian missionaries from the MSFS Fathers identified and arrived at a remote, underdeveloped village called Hebbagodi, located on the outskirts of Bangalore. Their mission was to uplift the local community. With this vision, they acquired around 40 acres of land to build essential facilities such as a school, orphanage, church, and hospital. This area gradually came to be known as Mermier Nagar.
Over the years, the community progressed in many aspects, yet one major challenge persisted—the lack of a quality English medium school nearby. To address this, Rev. Father Joseph Mulakkara established SFS High School in 1982, offering the state board curriculum. Initially, the school received permission to operate classes from Grades 1 to 7.
What began modestly in 1982, both in terms of student strength and infrastructure, has now transformed into a landmark institution in Anekal Taluk. In 1989, the school was granted approval to expand up to Grade 10. Another significant milestone came in 1991, when SFS High School presented its first batch of SSLC students, comprising 17 pupils.
Since then, the school has grown by leaps and bounds, earning a strong reputation in Hebbagodi and beyond. Despite the rise of several institutions offering various educational boards, SFS High School has withstood the test of time. It continues to evolve to meet the demands of 21st-century education, always prioritizing the welfare and success of its students.
Today, SFS High School stands proudly as one of the best English medium state board schools in Anekal Taluk, with more than 2,000 students from Pre-KG to Class 10. The campus features a well-stocked library, spacious classrooms, fully equipped computer
and science laboratories, a large playground, school transport facilities, an in-house nurse, and a counselor—creating the ideal environment for student learning.
The school encourages learning beyond the classroom. Students are given opportunities to excel in sports and co-curricular activities, allowing them to discover and develop their unique talents and interests. While class room learning is aided through visual aids and DIY activity or any form of mini project ethical values are reinforced through class assemblies, value education classes. Regular interaction with parents ensures a consistent support system for every child. In every grade, teachers shoulder the responsibility of nurturing curiosity, building good habits fostering emotional security inducing leadership qualities and confidence as they move to higher grades.
For students from grade 6 -8, schooling is much more than just learning from textbook and academic growth. The class which is s a mix of various caliber of children efforts of the teachers, parents and students alike can garner academic achievement for the school as well as the purpose of enrolling their ward in SFS HIGH SCHOOL While the co-curricular activities are open for all worthy candidates, alongside special classes in various subjects are held for the students for their improvement. Tips and tricks to learn, retain and enhance their marks through motivational talks, and regular assessments is also imparted.
