SFS Public School & Junior College, Ettumanoor was established in 2003 by the Missionaries of St. Francis de Sales, a congregation which had its origin in France. The congregation is the embodiment of the dream and vision of the Servant of God Fr. Peter Marie Mermier. The Missionaries of St. Francis de Sales commit themselves to the apostolate of education as one of their charisma and as an expression of their concern for total human development, inspired by gospel values. SFS Public School & Junior College aims to brighten the future of every person with whom we come in contact, with a “Salesian spirit of attentiveness to the individual, characterized by firmness and gentleness,” making him or her useful to society and helping all to become aware of their own dignity and destiny.

I am delighted to address you all as the Principal of SFS Public School & Junior College, Ettumanoor. Our institution stands as a testament to the charisma of SFS education, which has flourished for over two centuries on the Indian subcontinent. The MSFS Fathers have tirelessly dedicated themselves to education as missionary apostolate, aiming to uplift the living standards of ordinary people. With more than 150 educational institutions established across India, their impact has reached every nook and corner of our nation.

Pre-School (Pre KG, LKG, UKG) The Kindergarten marks the start of a lifelong romance with the world of letters for the little ones who enroll here at the tender age of three/four years. It is the most impressionable time of their life. Since a playful atmosphere mostly prevails in the kindergarten, every minute of the day, the kid is absorbing a new lesson for life. When SFS School started functioning in June 2003, the kindergarten too came on the scene with 245 students in four divisions of LKG, and just one of UKG. When Dr Roy P.K. first came as school principal here in 2018, he started the pre-KG class. This year the enrolment in the KG stands at 275 students. What exactly are these kids learning in their classes? Basic subjects such as math, reading and writing, form the framework of the KG syllabus. Additionally, students also learn science and social studies. The kindergarteners also try their hand at painting with crayons and pencil drawing. It is here in the kindergarten that kids learn about the world around them. Altogether, the kindergarten is a furnace that moulds little brats into perfect gentlemen and cute ladies who come to occupy the world stage in due course of time.
In SFS Public School, the focus of the primary academic syllabus is to lay the foundational setup essential for a well-rounded education. Students typically engage in activities that promote literacy and numeracy, such as reading comprehension exercises, basic arithmetic, and introductory science experiments. Additionally, they develop critical thinking through problem-solving tasks, creative expression via art and music classes, and physical activities to develop motor skills and teamwork. The syllabus aims to foster curiosity, communication skills through group discussions, and ethical values through storytelling and moral education, ensuring holistic development during these formative years. The primary section syllabus emphasizes both academic knowledge and skills development crucial for later education.
The senior years are a pivotal time for our students to acquire valuable life skills under the guidance of our professional teachers. With a focus on preparing for board exams, no effort is spared. These years are dedicated to achieving long-term goals and instilling a sense of pride in accomplishment. To support this, the school upholds rigorous academic standards, emphasizing ‘learning by doing’ rather than rote memorization. Our goal is to help every child excel and broaden their horizons for future opportunities. Academically weaker students receive individualized attention and special classes, with full cooperation from parents. The consistent success of our students, reflected in excellent board results year after year, is attributed to their self-motivation fostered by regular assessments and the high standards of our teaching staff. We offer Hindi or Malayalam as the second language from class 9. Additionally, we have IT as a skill subject for Class 9 and 10 students.
Every student who joins the different subject combinations available at the senior secondary level is catered to according to the CBSE curriculum while simultaneously keeping the vision and mission of our school in developing a holistic society where student performance is enhanced and assessed from every angle. The senior secondary section of SFS Public School & Junior College is noted for its steady academic results.
